L.A. Burdick Chocolates
Though not as famous as La Maison du Chocolat or Richart, the folks at L.A. Burdick chocolates make some darn fine stuff. I'm on their e-mail list, and I received notice that they had some of their great white chocolate Easter bunnies with dark chocolate hazelnut ganache for sale. What can I say? White chocolate coating or no, these are incredible confections.
For seasonal stuff, I usually like to wait until the holiday is over and then go in and snap up the holiday treats for half-price. (Example: Halloween ghosts, also in white chocolate with dark chocolate/hazelnut ganache). In this case, though, I couldn't wait. I bought some before the holiday was up.
Full descriptions of each of their chocolates are located in their chocolate glossary. My favorites are the Jaffa, the Baton Framboise, and the Richelieu. The Trinidad is good too. In general, I'm not a big fan of the milk or white chocolates (except for those bunnies!), and the ones here tend to be a bit buttery (such as the Honey Caramel or the Hazelnut), but try them anyway, especially if you're getting an assortment.
L.A. Burdick is located in Walpole, New Hampshire but it has a boutique in Boston, and ships internationally (that's how I got mine). If you're in Boston, stop by their boutique/cafe. The hot chocolate is so deep and dense, it's almost chewy. The pastries are delicious. I recommend the fruit tartlettes; unlike so many other fruit tarts, the ones at L.A. Burdick have a light, flaky crust lined in dark chocolate, and a delicate smattering of fruit. The true flavor of the tart really comes through. At the Walpole location, there is also a full restaurant that serves lunch and dinner.

Yumm! The hot chocolate here on a fall day in Cambridge is something I miss about the Boston area. I'm not sure if it's a good thing that you let me know they do mail order. ;)
